Open Decks

Went to the Herald pub in Harlow this eve for their ‘Vinyl Junkies’ open decks night.

Didn’t really know what to expect, but I knew it was a musically open minded pub so packed a small box of mixed records.

Not a busy night by any means but it’s only the second one they’ve done so word will hopefully spread. I played around 40 mins. Was unsure of what would go down well but then one of the good things about a small crowd is that there are less people to impress.

It was a fun night and all the DJs were different, will try and get to the next one if I can though I think the idea of having a theme is a good one so they can pull an audience who are into what’s on. It seemed a bit like DJ club, bring your girl (or boy) friend along.

Anyhow, here’s what I played:

The Stooges – Now I Wanna Be Your Dog

Funkadelic – Hit It and Quit It

Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed – Cut Ya Down

Ripple – I Don’t Know What It Is But It Sure Is Funky

Betty Harris – Mean Man

Black Heat – Drive My Car

Detroit Cobras – Cha Cha Twist

Imperial State Electric – (Why Don’t You) Leave It Alone

Them – Baby Please Don’t Go

The Seeds – Can’t Seem To Make You Mine

Randy & The Rainbows – Denise

The Standells – Dirty Water

James Brown – Cold Sweat Part 1

Night Trains – No More Heroes

Stevie Wonder – Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing

Pama International – Heatwave
