Tom Robinson Up Close and Personal in Harlow

As long time fans of Tom as leader of the TRB, solo artist, campaigner and broadcaster, we are beyond excited to be bringing this show to Harlow!

Thursday 2nd November 2023 – Burnt Mill Snooker & Social Club, Harlow, Essex

Musician and broadcaster Tom Robinson presents an evening of songs and stories spanning five decades of adventures in the music industry.

Tom’s musical journey began in 1974 when his first band was discovered by Ray Davies, and included a BBC ban for being Glad To be Gay, rocking against racism alongside The Clash, headlining Glastonbury with Peter Gabriel, writing lyrics for Elton John, drug smuggling in East Germany, two nervous breakdowns and a period in tabloid hell after falling in love with a woman.

Having made his peace with the BBC, he’s presented programmes on all the corporation’s national radio networks, and his broadcasting work has won two Sony Radio Academy awards.

Expect intimate versions of classics such as War Baby, Glad To Be Gay and 2-4-6-8 Motorway alongside stories from behind the scenes and a sprinkling of fan favourites from his extensive back catalogue.

The Big Easter Weekend!

Black Wax have teamed up with Redchurch Brewery, John Mann and The Spirit of The Square to present a full long weekend of live entertainment.

Thursday 6th April
Comedy night with Clinton Baptiste, Louie Green and Aideen McQueen, hosted by John Mann.

We’re over the moon that paranormal sensation Clinton Baptiste will be taking us on a hilarious yet touching journey through his life, out the other side and beyond the Celestial Curtains.

Clinton Baptiste is the hapless clairvoyant, medium and psychic from Peter Kay’s smash hit Channel 4 TV show Phoenix Nights.

Clinton will give readings to the audience, offering advice from beyond the grave. He will predict your future, tell you about your past and all manner of spooky stuff an’ that.

“Hundreds of years ago when a man walked the planet he had no real means of communication. In time man developed phenomena which has never been fully understood by the psychic community. This phenomena is… Clinton Baptiste” – Peter Kay

Friday 7th April (Good Friday)
Live music with The Small Fakers (Small Faces tribute) and guests

Firm favourites with Harlow’s mod and 60s fans, the Small Fakers first played in Harlow at The Square in 2008, and have played in town at least once every year since, except 2022.

So we’re putting that right and bringing them to perform in the heart of the brewery for a very good Friday.

Tickets

Saturday 8th April
Live music with Don’t Worry, The Bonnevilles + Fell and The Fallen

Local band Don’t Worry play their first full band hometown show since 2019. That last performance was part of The Square’s summer reunion event at Harlow Rugby club where they headlined the indoor stage. Having released their 2nd album Remorseless Swing in 2022, supported by a UK tour and airplay from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6music, we’re pleased to be hosting them back in Harlow.

They’ll be joined by Northern Irelands finest exports of garage punk blues – The Bonnevilles!

A last min opportunity to host them on their UK tour couldn’t be passed up so you’ve now got two headliners for the price of one!
