Introducing His Lordship!

“MAKES THE CRAMPS SOUND LIKE YACHT ROCK” – JOHN NIVEN

His Lordship, the new project from guitarist James Walbourne (The Pretenders, The Pogues, The Rails) and Kristoffer Sonne (Chrissie Hynde, Willie Nelson) have announced their first UK tour, kicking off with their rescheduled, sold out show at The Lexington on 20th April and taking in 11 cities across the UK, including a Harlow show at Burnt Mill Snooker & Social Club on 28th May. Already having made an indelible mark on London’s live scene, His Lordship is the sound of Walbourne unleashed as a frontman; a furious riot of raging guitar and perverted drums from another dimension.

In addition to the tour, the duo also announce their debut EP, a one take collection of rock ‘n’ roll covers, which came together in one evening after a long day of recording original songs (also coming soon). Deciding to let loose, they kept the tape rolling and filmed a set of rock’n’roll tunes they like to play. They didn’t even rehearse them. The finished EP is a first take 15 minute set of Stuff They Like. Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Link Wray and The Killer.

The EP will be released on 16th April digitally, with a vinyl release to follow on Psychonaut Sounds.

Black Wax promoter Adam Smith – “I’m really pleased to be able to include a Harlow show as part of His Lordship’s first national tour. This is exactly the kind of show I’d have booked at The Square, and I’m keen to keep that spirit alive by using suitable venues in town. This show at Burnt Mill Social Club will be one of the highlights of the local live music calendar this year – don’t miss it!”

New merch available

Following requests for some of the previous Heritage campaign shirts to have a reprint we’ve decided to make them generally available along with a whole range of Black Wax merchandise. The bags are the perfect size for your records, and some shirt designs are now available in ‘girlie’ fit. It’s also that time of year to bring out our Reindeers Ramones tribute Christmas T-shirt, now also available as a girlie, bag and hoodie! Find them in the shop.

Delivery Day!

A few T-Shirts should be dropping through letter boxes today. The first Black Wax Heritage Campaign – Pop In The Park 1 – is complete and I’m very pleased to have been sent this photo of Kevin Jones, lead singer of The Sods, sporting his!

In true Sods style he commented ‘I remember this gig well. Two great bands performed that day plus Eddie and the Hot Rods.’

A big thank you to all who bought a T-Shirt and supported the campaign.
Look out for the next one going live very soon!

Social Distancing Vol. 1

Saturday 21st March 2020. Inspired by some other home DJs I live streamed a DJ set from my front room on Facebook. I did a 1 hour set ahead of Andy from Northern Irish Punk Blues Duo The Bonnevilles doing a live set on their band page.

One of the decks, as always, was a bit dodgy. I had my (nearly) 3 year old, Slade, helping me pick out records, and he even informs us that he needs a poo.

Enjoy. Stay Safe.
