Black Wax kicked off June in style with The Bonnevilles and Murray Torkildsen playing live. Both put in brilliant sets. A special mention has to go to Murray for bringing out a guitar made from the bar of our beloved lost venue The Square – a touch of pure class. The Bonnevilles set was a chance to hear tracks from the new album ‘Dirty Photographs’ live alongside firm Black Wax favourites ‘My Dark Heart’ and ‘No Law In Lurgan.’ Summed up perfectly by one punter’s comment – ‘Its been too long since I left a venue with my ears ringing.’
Well, the good news is there’s a chance to do it all again in July when The Len Price 3 return to Harlow!
The Medway Garage 3 piece have recently released their 5th album ‘Kentish Longtails’, described by Louder Than War Magazine as ‘an album full of timeless melodic gems with plenty of punk rock oomph and a sprinkling of sonic weirdness.’ The Len Price 3 have played regularly in Harlow supporting the likes of Secret Affair and The Chords UK, often followed by calls for them to headline their own show. Their punchy punk influenced mod tinged garage rock harks back to the early energetic sounds of The Who but with all the snarl of the Sex Pistols.
Support on the evening comes from London’s multicultural garage power pop band More Kicks. Their debut single ‘It’s A Drag’ is released late June on Spain’s Snap! Records.
