On Friday night I was invited to spin some records at Wolfson College, Cambridge Uni, as part of their June Event. Also on the bill were The Subways, who played at the same time as me… so I played records for the bar staff and the photographer. Great times!
It was a funky soulful affair and you can hear it here!

The black wax was melting during this show! The weather had me in a soul mood, so here it is for you to enjoy again whilst the sun stays out… and when it goes in play this show out loud for a reminder of brighter times.
A little bit of rock n roll and a nod to Father’s Day too. Enjoy!

It seemed quite fitting that this milestone show should be a Black Wax Live session. Since launching the show I’ve always been thinking of ways of keeping it interesting for myself whilst making shows that people are going to enjoy listening to and being part of. This show ticked all the boxes. You get great music choices and a brilliant live performance from an ever charismatic Attila The Stockbroker. Punk poetry may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but listen in and I’m sure you’ll hear something you can at least agree with, and hopefully enjoy. It’s different, but different is good.

Hit full screen and turn the volume up on this! The brand new video from Black Wax favourites Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind – Heavy Lounge #1 from the debut album Super Natural.
Filmed at Phoenix Studios in Harlow.
On Thursday, after voting, I went to The Herald pub for their monthly ‘Vinyl Junkies’ open decks night. I was great to see that the night has grown since I last went, and there were more people signed up to spin their records. Again it was a real mix of musical styles and everyone was very welcoming and appreciative of each others’ passion. Vinyl Junkies takes place on the second Thursday of each month at The Herald, Broadly Road, Harlow.

Apologies with the delay in listing the last 2 shows – it’s been a busy couple of weeks! Gigging has taken me back up to Manchester and then over to Serbia, both times with the Newtown Neurotics. Whilst I was off on bass duties my good pal Ricci Ashoori took control of the show for me, so no dead air and if you’re interested in Salt & Vinegar crips show 19 is the one for you!
Both shows are here and track listings are below. Enjoy!

This was a real fun show to do! Reunited with my old indie disco partner Ricci Ashoori to talk through the old days of Virgin Megastore, Harlow Indie Discos and songs we forgot we love.

What a show! It has been an absolute honour to host the king of power pop – Paul Collins!
Black Wax wouldn’t be Black Wax without something going wrong, but luckily it was with me in the studio. Listen to the show and all will be clear.
As for the live set, it was perfection! The reason for the delay with getting the show uploaded is that I wanted to do the performance justice so Sam the sound man took the audio away to mix it properly, and it sounds great!
We also had brand new songs from Radiohearts and Duncan Reid & The Big Heads, as well as some classic power pop. Enjoy!

Yes, it was back, the dodgy deck of dooooooom. But I don’t think it ruined the show, if anything it gave it character. A brand new track from Duncan Reid & The Big Heads kicks off this weeks show. It was also Steve Diggle of the Buzzcocks’ birthday so a great reason to give them a blast.
Great to have some new listeners on board too. Play it loud x

A bank holiday rockin’ special. Lots of full throttle rock n roll with the usual splattering of soulful sounds to compliment. Not just for a bank holiday Sunday though, no this can be listened to at any time of any day and for maximum enjoyment make sure you crank up the volume!
