Sorry for delayed post – fatherhood takes up time! All is good though, everyone is well and the music is flowing. So here it is, show 11, originally broadcast on a sunny Sunday evening, suitable for playback any time of any day. Enjoy!
Black Wax 10 Is Up!
A week later than planned (see previous post as to why!) here is show 10. Play it loud!
Dad!
I didn’t show up to the radio last Sunday. Why? Because something came up… my son! Slade James Smith was born at 14:23 on Sunday 26th March in Harlow’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, weighing 6.9lb.
We were all home the following evening and this week has been bonkers. Bonkers and great. More about that on the next show…
So, that’s the reason your Sunday evening was quiet last week, I won’t apologise – normal service resumes 02nd April, 5pm – 7pm on phoenixcommunityradio.co.uk
Play it loud! x
Black Wax Live! Show 9
It happened! We managed to run a show with a live guest in front of an audience. It’s been the plan from the start and on Sunday 19th March we welcomed people into the live lounge to watch a special session by Murray Torkildsen.
For a show that hasn’t had a tech-hitch free run yet it was a bit of a risk to add a live element into the show, but with some extra help on hand we managed to run smooth transitions between the studio and the live room, with the audience in the live room and everyone tuning in at home hearing the full uninterrupted show. The standard has been set, and we’re already preparing for the next one!
Black Wax 8 Is Up!
New show! Bit shorter than previous shows due to technical hitch at the start, but as always we get rocking’ eventually. This one is to be played loud!
Open Decks
Went to the Herald pub in Harlow this eve for their ‘Vinyl Junkies’ open decks night.
Didn’t really know what to expect, but I knew it was a musically open minded pub so packed a small box of mixed records.
Not a busy night by any means but it’s only the second one they’ve done so word will hopefully spread. I played around 40 mins. Was unsure of what would go down well but then one of the good things about a small crowd is that there are less people to impress.
It was a fun night and all the DJs were different, will try and get to the next one if I can though I think the idea of having a theme is a good one so they can pull an audience who are into what’s on. It seemed a bit like DJ club, bring your girl (or boy) friend along.
At a gig…
Black Wax 7 is up!
